Hair Transplant Without Shaving at the Asli Tarcan Clinic

Today, both men and women who experience hair thinning or balding have several options available to them. The most reliable is going for either a FUE or DHI hair transplant procedure, as these have become the norm in clinics all over the world and offer excellent success rates, but there are still some concerns.

You may have heard that these surgeries require shaving, which some men and most women find difficult. After all, for a lot of people, having long hair in a particular style is a part of their identity and a defining physical feature that they are known for, so it’s hard to suddenly part with it for weeks, months, or even a year until it grows back to its former glory.

Usually, the donor and the recipient area are shaved, but sometimes, it’s the whole head to make it easier for the doctor to see where the incisions need to be made and apply the medication afterward.

However, the professionals at the Asli Tarkan clinic can also perform surgeries without shaving your head, and we will explain how these work and who they are best suited to.

How Is a Hair Transplant Without Shaving Performed at Asli Tarcan Clinic?

Both FUE and DHI hair transplant surgery can be done with or without the need to shave hair, and they work like usual, but they can take a bit more time. Here is what you can expect:

Initial consultation and assessment

the doctor will perform an inspection, explain your options, and mark the recipient area.

Getting grafts from the donor area

the first part of the surgery involves removing individual hair follicles from the donor area.

Making incisions in the recipient area

the surgeon makes a series of small cuts in the scalp of the recipient area and then places the grafts in them.

Applying PRP

the platelet-rich plasma will help with the recovery process and promote hair growth.

Additional PRP session and final check

the next day, you receive your second PRP treatment along with advice on what to do in the following weeks and any necessary medication or hair care products.

Recovery and aftercare

you will be able to resume daily activities within four days, but you’ll need to sleep with your head slightly elevated and follow a specific hair care regimen for a few more weeks.

The real difference is that the no-shave surgery can be performed without fully shaving the recipient and donor areas.

The Partial Shave Method

Here, the surgeon will shave the donor area to ensure that they can effectively extract hair follicles and only shave a little bit of the recipient area to allow for more precision. This is typically done with a slightly receding hairline in the forehead area, where it won’t affect the overall hairstyle too much, as it will look like you just had a buzzcut to shorten the back and sides of your hair.

Fully Unshaven

With this version, a small area in the back of the head will be trimmed as the donor area, but the surgeon will leave unshaven hair in the recipient area, placing the grafts alongside the longer surrounding hair. There will still be some scabs for a few days after the procedure, but they will be much less noticeable, and you can easily cover both this and the donor area with longer strands of existing hair.

When is a Hair Transplant Without Shaving an Option?

Who is a good candidate? Well, it’s an especially popular choice of hair transplant for women but also men with long hair, as they don’t have to worry about a major change in their appearance and have to wait for another year or two to grow it back out again.

It’s also a great choice for men in their 30s and 40s with a slightly receding hairline, African-American women suffering from traction alopecia, and men with thinning beards. The transplanted hair will slowly grow out in the coming months, and in the meantime, no one will notice that you’ve had surgery.
